WHAT’S INSIDE?

Tanner James (He/Him) is an actor and theatre artist based in New York City.

Raised in farm-town Maysville, Kentucky, Tanner knew the slow pace of golf games at the Country Club and tobacco growth weren’t his speed. He took advantage of every community theatre summer camp and music class in his small town to make his way to Kentucky Governor’s Scholar for the Arts (KYGSA) in 2017, where he studied in musical theatre. It was there that Tanner found the strength artists hold and decided to ride the rollercoaster of being a performer. He later attended the Hartt School where he earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre.

As a queer man, Tanner is passionate about creating and exploring stories that discuss the unwritten nuances of the queer experience. He hopes to find a community in the world to give back everything he’s been given within his theatric world of expression.

Obsessed since Hannah Montana, Tanner’s favorite celebrity is Miley Cyrus. He watches “The Other Two” to laugh and “Abbott Elementary” to crush on Chris Perfetti. Tanner is currently earning his Physical Training Certification through the National Association of Sports Medicine (NASM) and hopes to encourage those in his class to laugh, breathe, sweat lots and have good thoughts.
